Globe Telecom: "Androids for All"

While we were busy watch Smart Communications announce their new "Netphone" labeled smartphones and tablets at the World Mobile Congress as part of their "smartphones for all initiative"... Globe Telecom quietly released a whole slew of Android's at plans that would make that dream a reality. Looks like the smartphone wars are heating up.

Samsung Galaxy Ace

Here is a quick list of Globe Telecom's new offerings:

Plan 499 - Samsung Galaxy 5 and Huawei Ideos

These two are not really new offers, The Huawie Ideos having been offered since February. The Samsug Galaxy 5 is down to Plan 499 from Plan 999.

Plan 999 - Samsung Galaxy Mini and Huawei Ideos S7 Tablet
Plan 1799 - HTC Wildfire and Samsung Galaxy Ace
Plan 2499 - Samsung Galaxy Tab

  1. I'm surprised Globe's put its weight behind Android like this, first their support for app development and now a bevy of android phones even for their cheapest plan. It could've been better though.
499 should offer the Galaxy Mini/Ideos
    999 should get you a Galaxy Ace/S7
for 1799 they should offer one of the older snapdragons, HTC wildfire's kinda meh for a free phone on such a a plan

  2. Globe seems to be determined to regain the lead, or at least close the gap with Smart and keep Sun at bay. The new for 2010 My Super Plans was a surprising move. Finding out about GlobeLabs was a surprise.

Now the Globe 2011 phone line-up is also the most "relevant" offering up iPhone's at the high end, and Androids now at almost every price point. Smart is still too heavily invested with Nokia and Sun's premium offers are BlackBerry's.

I am a Smart subscriber, and will be sticking with Smart as my primary phone. Been with them for years. But, for new postpaid subscribers, I can imagine Globe is looking much more attractive.

  3. Will sign up for a subscription plan from Globe again due to their handsets. Handsets on SMART are craptastic at best.

  4. Smart has good handsets in their line-up but they are offered on a promotional basis. Even when the promotion is over you can still inquire. Their last promo had some really great handsets, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc X12, the HTC Desire S and the Sony Galaxy Ace.
